Search for ABS publications online
ABS provides a number of ways to search for its publications:
- Search ABS using keywords or ABS numbers. Full text access to all ABS publications is provided from 1998 onwards
- Search or browse Papers & Articles (left hand menu under Key Products)
- Click Statistics - search by Catalogue Number, Release Date, Topic or Title to access to the full range of ABS statistical and reference information (updated weekdays at 11:30am, Canberra time)
- ABS Catalogue (2005) - refer to the Index at the end of this publication for relevant keywords, e.g.
- Look for Indigenous Australians, with the subcategory health. The number listed is 4704.0(93) (The Health and Welfare of Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.)
- (93) is the page number in the ABS Catalogue, giving a description of the content
- Refer to the ABS Help index to find answers to common questions about using ABS such as Navigate to Statistics, Interpret Catalogue numbers, Use the Theme pages, Find Census Data, Cite ABS Sources
Print publications
ABS publications held in UNSW Library:
- Print versions of ABS publications are arranged on library shelves at the call number SREF 319.405/8, Level 4, Main Library, Kensington
- All items at the library call number include an ABS Catalogue number, e.g. SREF 319.405/8 [4184.0]
Census data
ABS census time series data:

CDATA contains the census data from the 2006, 2001 and 1996 censuses, with times series and mapping facility

CDATA contains data from only 2 major Basic Community and Time Series profiles

Researchers may view, download or print census data in Excel format
