Publishing strategy guide

Managing your copyright

You have a responsibility when publishing to know what is in your publisher or author agreement. Reading these agreements will also help you to ensure you are publishing with a quality publisher.

Ask yourself when reading an author agreement:

  • will you retain the right to use your work (including distributing copies of it) while teaching?
  • will you retain the right to create derivate versions of your work?
  • will you retain the right to upload your work to the institutional repository?
