Definitions

Data mining is "the process or practice of examining large collections of data in order to generate new information, typically using specialized computer software."[1]   

Text mining is "A form of data mining, which involves identifying and analysing patterns within a text and uses techniques drawn from natural language processing, machine learning and statistics."[2]

Statistical analysis and data mining

A peer-reviewed journal that addresses the broad area of data analysis, including data mining algorithms, statistical approaches, and practical applications. Topics include problems involving massive and complex datasets, solutions utilizing data mining algorithms and/or novel statistical approaches.
