Course resources with Leganto

Engage your students

On this page, learn how to use Leganto to understand how your students engage with readings and increase your students' engagement with readings.

Understand how your students engage with their list

Leganto allows you to view how students in your course engage with lists as a whole, as well as individual items.

Students can also engage with items in the list by marking them as Done.

Analytics are available for both the list and items in the list:

  • Active students – indicates how many unique individuals interacted with the record for an item, or with a list.
  • Students who viewed full text – indicates how many students viewed the full text of the item. This includes watching videos.
  • Students who marked as done – indicates how many students marked an item in the list as Done.
  • Number of loans – indicates how many times a physical item was borrowed from the Library.

To access the list analytics, click on the Analytics button bar chart icon on the right-hand side pane of the list.

Increase your students' engagement with their list

There are various ways to increase students' engagement with your Leganto list:

  • Keep to a reasonable number of resources. A long list might overwhelm students.
  • Check the analytics available in Leganto and remove items where engagement has been low, or add annotations to encourage students to use them.
  • Align the resources with your learning activities. It is important that students understand why an item is on the list.
  • You can use a Public note to communicate with students about, for example, which pages of a book or chapter to read, or the context of the reading.
  • Use tags to signal whether readings in your list are Mandatory/Required or Optional/Recommended.

To add a tag or public note to an item, see Edit your list – Use tags and notes.
