Researching quality journals

When you are preparing to publish it is important that you target reputable high-quality journals that reach your target audience.

 

Finding the right journal:

  • check your professional networks - what do your colleagues advise?
  • what do your professional associations recommend?
  • look at relevant publisher websites
  • consider the publishing behaviours of potential outlets
  • Assess journals in your discipline based on metric quality indicators

 

Other factors you might consider:

  • open access or allows open access self-archiving
  • publication frequency
  • ease of access for your intended audience
  • online availability
  • included in your discipline's major databases
