The objective of this resource is to inform the UNSW community of changes to the Library Collection and open access publishing agreements in which the University participates.

Canadian Science Publishing (CSP) Open Access Publishing Agreement

Agreement duration: The UNSW agreement is from 1 April 2025 - 31 December 2027.

Acceptance date: Eligible articles that have an acceptance date during the term of this agreement from 1 January 2025 - 31 December 2027.

Summary: Canadian Science Publishing (CSP) is Canada's largest independent, not-for-profit leader in mobilizing science-based knowledge. It started in 1929 as the NRC Research Press, part of the National Research Council. Authors may publish open access in CSP's hybrid and open access journals. Upon publication, articles will be made open access. There is no limit on the number of articles that can be published by UNSW corresponding authors under the agreement.

Information for authors: This agreement includes all current UNSW researchers including HDR candidates and must use their UNSW institutional email address (name@unsw.edu.au) to be eligible and to help verify affiliation. In most cases, articles are only eligible if UNSW is the corresponding author's primary affiliation in both the publishing system and in the article itself. RingGold is also used to affiliate. UNSW's RingGold is 7800. For each open access Article, the Publisher shall state the applicable Creative Commons licence and may be published under a CC BY licence. 

Eligible article types: Standard research, articles, review articles, and brief article types.

How to submit your article for open access publishing:

a. The submitting author must submit their article using the Publisher’s online submission system.
b. During submission, the submitting author is responsible for
i. entering information about the article (e.g., article type, title, abstract, keywords, inclusion in a collection),
ii. uploading all article and supplementary files,
iii. providing complete and accurate information about each author (institutional email addresses, full names, contributions to the article
using the CRediT taxonomy, and institutional affiliations),
iv. answering mandatory questions related to funding, publishing ethics, and research integrity, and
v. confirming that article files convert correctly into a PDF proof before completing submission.

Sharing via repositories:To comply with the Open Access policy the UNSW corresponding author can deposit the final published (version of record) article into UNSWorks under a CC BY licence. .

Corresponding authors should not use personal email addresses (e.g. Hotmail, Gmail) or email addresses affiliated with other organisations, research centres or institutes. Otherwise they may be ineligible under the terms of this agreement.
