Collection updates

The objective of this resource is to inform the UNSW community of changes to the library collection and transformative agreements the University has entered into for open access publishing.

Wiley Read & Publish agreement

Agreement duration: The UNSW agreement is from 1st January 2022 - 31st December 2024, or until the annual publication cap is reached.

Summary: Wiley curates a large array of articles, books, databases and reference works within the health, physical sciences, social sciences, and humanities disciplines.

Titles included:

Wiley Read and Publish Title List (2023)

Wiley Read & Publish Title List (2022)

Information for authors: See the Wiley website for more information. UNSW corresponding authors must use their UNSW institutional email address (name@unsw.edu.au) to be eligible under this agreement.  Page and colour charges are not included under the terms of this agreement.

Eligible article types:  Primary Research and Review Articles, Case Studies, Commentaries, Reviews, Short Communications.  Refer to Wiley's list of article classifications (Excel spreadsheet) for other included and excluded types.

Acceptance date: Eligible articles that have an acceptance date during the term of this agreement (1st January 2022 - 31st December 2024) or up to the annual publication cap are eligible to be published open access under the terms of the agreement.

Number of included articles: This agreement provides a shared allowance or publication cap of 6,388 articles to responsible corresponding authors across all participating institutions. The allowance is calculated to be 101% of articles published across Wiley titles in 2021. Once the allowance is used, responsible corresponding authors of any additional articles accepted in 2023 may choose to publish articles as "closed access" or to pay an APC for the article to be published open access.

How to submit your article for open access publishing:

  1. Follow Wiley’s usual article submission process via the journal’s homepage.
  2. On acceptance of the article, the UNSW responsible* corresponding author selects open access, confirms the licence type, and indicates their UNSW affiliation using Wiley Author Services.
  3. To comply with the Open Access policy the UNSW corresponding author will need to retain the rights to either the Published Version of Record or Author Accepted Manuscript, and deposit into UNSWorks using a CC BY licence.
  4. The APC will then be waived for authors who
  • used their UNSW institutional email address and
  • selected UNSW as their institutional affiliation.

For more information on the author workflow refer to this step-by-step guide on publishing open access in Wiley hybrid journals.

* Each article may have more than one corresponding author, but only a single designated 'responsible corresponding author' who will be in charge of the administrative details for the article.

Responsible corresponding authors must use their UNSW email address when submitting an article for publication in order for the publication to be approved to be published open access with no transactional APCs.

Responsible corresponding authors should not use personal email addresses (e.g., Hotmail, Gmail).
