The objective of this resource is to inform the UNSW community of changes to the Library Collection and open access publishing agreements in which the University participates.

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Press Open Access Publishing Agreement

Agreement duration: The UNSW agreement is from 1st January 2023 - 31st December 2024.

Summary: Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Press (CSHLP) is a publisher located on Long Island, New York since 1933. It publishers in the areas of genetics and molecular biology, including cancer biology, plant science, bioinformatics, and neurobiology. It is a division of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.

Information for authors:  UNSW corresponding authors must use their UNSW institutional email address (name@unsw.edu.au) to be eligible under this agreement. For journal response times between submission and acceptance you should check the specific journal guidelines for accurate information.

Eligible article types: Fully peer-reviewed research, review, and case-study articles are eligible. Editorials, comments, protocols, methods, and similar materials are not eligible.

Acceptance date: Eligible articles that have an acceptance date during the term of this agreement are eligible to be published open access under the terms of the agreement.

Number of included articles: There is no limit on the number of articles that may be published by UNSW corresponding authors open access under this agreement.

Sharing via repositories: This agreement aligns with UNSW's Open Access policy and authors can upload their Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM) and link to the publisher version/PDF in UNSWorks. Papers are deposited directly to PubMed Central (PMC) and subsequently to Europe PMC.

How to submit your article for open access publishing:

  1. The UNSW corresponding author should follow the usual article submission process via the journal webpage.

  2. Upon acceptance of a paper, the author will be informed of their Open Access publishing options. They can indicate their choice to publish OA at no  APC charge when they submit their License to Publish form. Articles from authors at participating institutions will be published under a CC BY  or CC BY-NC licence.

  3. To comply with the Open Access policy the UNSW corresponding author will need to retain the rights to either the Published Version of Record or Author Accepted Manuscript, and deposit into UNSWorks using a CC BY licence.

Corresponding authors should not use personal email addresses (e.g. Hotmail, Gmail) or email addresses affiliated with other organisations, research centres or institutes. Otherwise they may be ineligible under the terms of this agreement.
